Re: Separate Science - 6th hour of teaching
As discussed at options/parents evenings last year, students in the year 11 separate science group have been asked to stay after school every Monday from 3.30-4.30pm for an additional Science lesson. This additional lesson is vital for the completion of the separate science course.
Separate science is normally taught for 6 hours every week for two years, and as explained in options evening in year 9, it was decided not to remove a gcse option but rather use a small amount of time after school to ensure that this demanding course is completed.
A free late bus is available for students who are in receipt of free school transport. It is very much appreciated that staff and students are giving up some of their own time, but this is a prestigious set of qualifications. However, if pupils are unable to stay for the sessions, they are expected to catch up in their own time and seek help where necessary.
Pupils have been made aware that the school’s Code of Conduct will be still be enforced during the lessons and that appropriate standards of behaviour will be expected. Pupils have also been informed that they are more than welcome to bring a drink and snack to have during the session.
